Call for Nominations 2023 – Student Representative Board Member

UTSNZ is calling for nominations for candidates to fill a student representative governance role on the UTSNZ Board of Directors.

As per it’s Constitution, UTSNZ shall have a board (“the Board”), comprising the following persons:

a) Five members elected at an Annual General Meeting of Members.

b) Up to an additional three members co- opted from time to time by the board for terms of up to three years as determined on a case-by-case basis by the Board.

c) At any time at least two Board Members shall be enrolled university or tertiary institute students at the time of their election or co-option.

About the Role

Tertiary students are at the heart of what we do. Our vision is New Zealand university and tertiary student wellbeing enhanced through sport. This goal will only be achieved if students get value from the sporting opportunities offered to them, and if the tertiary and sport sectors work collaboratively and consistently to ensure opportunities are relevant and meaningful.

Integral to this is ensuring the inclusion of student voice in the continued development of university and tertiary sport, and UTSNZ.

The role of the Student Representative Board Member is to:

• assist in the governance of University and Tertiary Sport NZ (UTSNZ) and to advance and protect the long-term interests of the organisation.
• act honestly, in good faith and in the best interests of the organisation and in doing so, support the organisation in fulfilling its mission and discharging its accountabilities.

Nomination Process

As per c) above, student representative Board Member candidates must be currently enrolled at the time of nomination.

All nominations are required to be ratified by the tertiary institution at which a student is enrolled.
